POST-EFFORT
POST-EFFORT is an essay and research project about the role of effort, friction and resistance in creative practice at a time when generative AI promises to compress the distance between intention and result. Starting from the deceptively simple question - what happens when creative work becomes too easy? - the text examines whether the automation of tedious, manual and repetitive tasks may also erode something psychologically and artistically valuable: the satisfaction of struggle, the sense of agency, and the formative role of the process itself.
Based on interviews with artists, designers, creative directors, educators and other practitioners from the broadly understood creative field, the project explores AI not only as a technological tool, but as a cultural force reshaping ideas of skill, authorship, productivity and value. Rather than offering a simple rejection or celebration of automation, POST-EFFORT asks what kinds of difficulty are worth preserving - and whether, there could still be a spark without some friction?
POST-EFFORT (PL version; EN coming soon)Since September, I have been carrying out a development grant in the Visual Arts segment, under which I am developing a project titled “Post-Effort - How Artificial Intelligence Interferes with the Creative Process.” The project aims to expand both artistic and digital skills. The grant is funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. #KPOdlakultury #KPO #NIMIT #NextGenerationEU #FunduszeUE #obowiazekinformacyjny
